By some miracle I managed to find time to do some sewing. Don't ask me how it happened - I know it occurred over several days rather than in one blissful afternoon but needs must. And I made this dress for Maya. The fabric is Cool Cords by Robert Kaufman. I loved it when it was in that beautiful expanse of yardage. But unfortunately, as a dress, it goes with precisely . . . nothing.
But the problem with it made up as a dress is the colours in the fabric just don't go with anything - well apart from white. And white, isn't a sensible colour for babies. It's just not. In anyone's world. Unless they love washing. Which I don't.
And for the uninitiated here is photographic evidence why white is a ridiculous colour for baby clothing - this is Maya an hour after getting dressed:
Still I love the dress (and my grubby daughter.)
Gorgeous dress though. And you daughter looks beautiful in it.

Nicely made.
OK, here's my suggestion. Beige. A beige t-shirt or cardigan that would pull out the earthy colour of the leaves and stems and as slightly darker colour than white will hide a few more dribbles. But would you want to go shopping for something for a baby in beige? Probably not.

Thanks guys - I like you're idea Gillian - I think you might be onto something with beige.

Who says babies have to be matchy matchy? I think they look cuter when they don't match so throw any color shirt underneath it. It's a great jumper. I love the bright colors!
And I'm so glad you found the time. It's so much fun sewing for daughters.

It's great that you were able to spare some of your time to sew this dress. Don't feel bad. The dress is beautiful after all.

In plain English, he means Uncle Sam will get stuck with the debt when banks blow up. The fact that happened in the recent cycle is a major cause of the rising debt that seems so alarming to those who demand immediate cuts in spending totally unrelated to the financial crisis.
