I have turned into a rather poor wannabe yummy mummy - I sit and drool over the clothes in the mini Boden catalogue quietly wondering how I could afford to buy Maya all the lovely little outfits before resigning myself to the reality that, so long as we're attached to that eating thing, I can't!
But when I was pregnant I did succumb and bought her a dress - it was a funky print big button dress and it looked like this:
It cost £22 which I personally think is an outrageous price for a baby outfit that she only got a few months wear out of - Oh but she looked cute in it!
But I couldn't bring myself to do it again, and I also thought that I could probably make something if I could only get some funky corduroy fabric. So how delighted was I when I discovered Robert Kaufman's Cool Cords range. I'm sure they must be responsible for the Boden print (surely these companies make exclusive ranges for clothing retailers?)
So I made this dress based loosely on a pattern from Amy Butler's Little Stitches book. I say loosely because I couldn't get the pattern pieces to look right so had to make my own with some adjustments.
Maya seems to really love the pattern - she can sit and play with it for minutes at a time (ages for a 6 month old baby!) and quite a few people have asked me where I bought it - don't you just LOVE it when that happens?
Maya is going through such a lovely phase at the moment - smiling almost constantly, trying to talk, rolling over and almost crawling. She can entertain herself with a rattle and fabric book long enough for me to get a row or two of knitting done and she laughs when I make funny faces, sing to her (not that flattering actually - I had been under the impression my voice was rather good!) or blow raspberries on her tummy. She's sleeping well at night and if we can only get the daytime napping sorted so that she'll sleep for longer than 45 minutes we'll all be laughing (and I might be able to get a bit more done.)
I've bought another 3 yards of different Cool Cord fabrics - so watch this space for more Kaufman creations.
Love the fabric, and of course the little one that goes with it!

I love this movie. this is a good post.
You think the homoerotic thing is going to be there. but its not.
Its just like what they call a chick flick only for dudes.
And I'd never seen Will Oldham act or do anything before. he is good.

The good thing is that you can have the baby's favourite things customised and imprinted on the dress. The little one will definitely feel proud and happy to see his or her clothes.

In plain English, he means Uncle Sam will get stuck with the debt when banks blow up. The fact that happened in the recent cycle is a major cause of the rising debt that seems so alarming to those who demand immediate cuts in spending totally unrelated to the financial crisis.
