Have you bought Sew Hip magazine yet? I've been pouring over the first issue obsessively loving it completely. It's got lots of lovely projects in, along with interviews with crafters like Amy Butler (my craft crush!) Lots of the projects are pretty quick and easy and as Cole's little sister (his Dad and I separated when Cole was little, are both now very happily married to other people and his Dad has a baby daughter) Alice was one a few weeks ago so he wanted to make her a birthday present.
Sew Hip had a pattern for some felt bunting which he could embellish with buttons and simple embroidery. He really worked hard on it and even helped to stitch the ribbon to the triangles.
I had a go at making this cute little top too and was really impressed with how it turned out. It took me about 2 hours from start to finish and Alice's Mum at least was thrilled (Alice was a bit non- plussed to be honest!)
I also started a new job this week. I think I'd mentioned that I was seriously unhappy in my last one and another similar role came up with another council so I applied - and got it! And I started yesterday and so far it's going really well. It's close to home and will allow me to work from home a couple of days a week which will be fantastic. So far so good - I think I'm just relieve to be out of my last one!
And it's getting close to Christmas - I love Christmas, all that baking and gift making - yum! I get stupidly busy, take on way too much, and get carried away with what I think I can fit in to the time I've got- but I wouldn't have it any other way!

That bunting looks great! Saw it in Sew Hip, but don't really have an occasion for it at the moment. May have to make up a reason...
Good luck in the new job!

I love the bunting and the top! I went to college in the (teeny tiny) town where Amy Butler lives - too bad I wasn't sewing at the time and had no idea who was living right down the road!

What a great big brother Cole is, I blame the parents :) soooo kind of him to make something for his little sister. I love the top you made her , too very cute. Well done on the new job, glad you're enjoying it. My temp job comes to an end just before Christmas, can't say I'm too sorry, so I'm jobhunting. Mr Twigs will be working from home one day a week next year so that means I can work a few more hours.
Take care and don't take too much on missus
