'm just learning to sew and got the fabulous Diana Rupp Book Sew
Everything Workshop recently. I'm so impressed with it - lots of very
wearable patterns and easy to follow instructions. Anyway - I made a
skirt! My first one and I'm so proud of it. I used a heavy cotton in
Navy for the shirt itself and then used some vintage cotton lace
doilies to embellish it . What I'm so pleased about is that it
actually fits - and
it's something I'd actually wear (I know I should have had more faith
in my abilities to begin with!) The wrap shape is very flattering - it
looks like I've almost got a flat stomach! And I reckon it's smart
enough to wear to work too.
Great job. I read your post in Wardrobe Refashion. I may have to look for that book.

This and your refashioned sweater are both stunning!

Wow! I'm so impressed. You're becoming quite an accomplished seamstress.
I love the doilies on the skirt. It adds a great touch.

Wow, that skirt looks great. I love the crochet that you stitched on. I am so crap at dressmaking I finish things but never wear them as they look very homemade, but you are inspiring me to have another go this summer...

Wow, I LOVE this! It's so beautiful and fits so well; I would never have guessed that this was your first time sewing a skirt.
I keep searching for abandoned doilies at my local thrift stores, but haven't found any yet. Maybe I'll start checking Ebay. They look so beautiful on clothes, and I love the idea of putting them in a place where they can be admired again.

That's soooo cute! I like the vivid contrast of the white on the dark blue. My daughter used some of her gr-grandmother's crocheted edging from old pillowslips on her daughter's skirts when she was little. Love it! ~Marge~

That looks awesome - I just bought the same book - except I feel pretty intimidated by it - you may have helped me bust through that - THANK YOU! It looks gorgeous on you and I love the lacey bits...
