Happy Easter to you all! We've had a great day, visiting family and eating far too much! It's nice to now be home and cozy because it's COLD out there! Because of all of the visiting we've done, there's not been much time for crafting today so I thought I'd show you a couple of pictures of my new pincushion- I've had enough of finding pins stashed in various boxes and tins and finally made myself something useful.
I wish it looked a little bit more cupcake like - I've a sneaky feeling this one looks a bit like a flying saucer!
I'm still feeling tired and seem to be able to sleep for England at the moment so I missed Easter morning with Cole - well, the important first bit anyway where he found the little eggs I'd hidden all over the house. It also meant that I wasn't there to be the voice of restraint when he had 5 chocolate straws for breakfast followed by a Cadbury's cream egg! I'd feel guilty if I actually had the energy (ok I DO feel guilty but I also think it's kind of funny - I mean, isn't that what kids are supposed to do when Mum isn't around?)
He tried to hide the fact at first but then came clean. I'm sure I read somewhere recently that it's an important developmental stage for kids to reach when they learn how to lie! I suppose I should be super proud then because when I was cleaning yesterday and trying to determine where the god awful smell was coming from I discovered a stash of moldy broccoli hidden behind one of his toy boxes! Apparently he'd got the idea from his Horrid Henry books - Horrid indeed the smell was awful!
And obviously whilst I told him off good a proper (I can't be searching for moldy vegetables for the rest of his natural life) there was a bit of me that had a begrudging admiration for it - I wouldn't have dared do something so naughty when I was a kid and in a weird way I found this very comforting. I was such a shy, nervous child that I'm really pleased that Cole is such a confident boy. And to be honest, this is one of the first times he's done anything I'd class as really naughty, or premeditated anyway. Sure he gets a bit boisterous now and again but he's never cheeky or mean. I'm hugely lucky really so I'm not too worried about the secret vegetable stash - at least not unless it continues!
And he's been so good whilst we visited various in laws and relatives, playing quietly (mostly) while we talked boring wedding stuff. But then he did have the bribery factor of there being lots of chocolate around! He's grown up so much - no longer seems to need me to entertain him. He's going to be 8 in a couple of weeks and I wonder where all that time has gone.
And now we're home and he's curled up next to me on the sofa, with the blanket over our legs. He's watching Terry Prachit's The Color of Magic and I'm typing away here. Every now and then I kiss his forehead and am thankful that he's still at an age where he'll let me.
Happy Easter to you all

So sweet, and I think the pin catcher is lovely.

Happy Easter to you, too! Cole sounds like a smart little kid--if that broccoli didn't stink, that would have been a good place to hide it, LOL!
I like the cupcake, even if it is round. It's adorable!

Cole is growing up to be an excellent young man! I always fed my broccoli to the dog. Cole's idea was quite ingenious since you don't own a dog. =)
So glad you had a happy Easter!

Our beautiful English cocker spaniel, Chica, died recently on her 14th birthday. Having cherished her for all those 14 years, our family was very saddened by her passing, and we still are.
