A couple of years ago i made a job lot of lavender wheat bags for my friends and family. I tended to do them just for the women (me don't get cold right?) but my brother saw one I had a home when he was staying with me and asked if I would make him one.
I didn't have the time to order some wheat grains so after a bit of internet research decided to use linseeds. They're a bit more volatile than wheat but apparently work well so long as you don't overheat them.
All of the fabric I had was very girly - I love colorful vintage inspired prints like Amy Butler so I thought I'd have a look in the local charity shops to find something I could use that would be suitably manly.
I found this shirt for £1 and thought it was perfect (John, who never wears a button up shirt actually said that he'd wear it, it was so nice - but I knew that he wouldn't really wear it so I cut it up anyway!)
I made a cotton inner back to hold the linseeds and then made a cover out of the shirt material. I'd put dried lavender into the wheat bags I'd made and was going to include some in this one for my brother but John stopped me and told me that lavender wasn't manly! So, no lavender for my bro.
I'm pretty pleased with the final product - nice and manly too!
Love the manly bag!! And your Knitting website is great! Cool stuff!
