Refashioned Sweater To Cardigan

I've been looking for an embroidered sweater to revamp ever since seeing a really cute cardigan in Just For The Frill Of It.  I found this on in our local charity shop for £3.50 and as it wasn't the sort of thing I would wear as it was, found a strange sense of liberation when it came to taking the scissors to it!

I was a bit worried it was all going to unravel as soon as I cut it but it really didn't.  I had read that machine knitted garments don't spontaneously unravel like a  hand knitted garment would (as all of us hand knitters know SO well!)

Because I knew I'd never wear it as a sweater I feel I could just go a bit wild with it.  Dscf0015_3 I did zigzag stitch on the  edges which gave it a nice ruffly effect (I think it's called lettuce stitch) and did a double layer on the body and sleeves.

Very very cute. And cool because no one else will have the same thing.

I will never look at a frilly foo-foo sweater the same ever again. Thanks for the continuous inspiration!

So darling. I'll have to experiment with this lettuce stitch.

That is SO cute! I've always loved seeing what people can do when they redesign clothes. You did a great job.
