My First Wardrobe Refashion Post!

I'm a big refashioning fan - I like the idea of reusing and customizing clothes, but I've been too scared (or unimaginative) to try it in the past. But after getting a couple of great books - Subversive Seamster and Just For The Frill Of It I decided to give it a go.

Wardroberefashion_02 So I've taken the 2 month Wardrobe Refashion Pledge and I've very excited!  I've got to resist the urge to buy any new clothes for 2 months (I could have done longer but I thought I'd ease myself into it gently) and can only buy second hand and handmade.

I've just completed my first project!

I found this cardigan in a charity/thrift store for £1 - which is pretty darn good as it's a cashmere blend from Marks & Spencer's.  Dscf0001I love the shape of it but the gray was a bit too plain for my liking. I was rooting around in the bargain bin and found a lovely yellow silk tie fro 50p - hmmm I thoughtDscf0003.... Don't the colors look pretty together?
I've just got my first sewing machine so thought I'd give the appliqué stitch a go.   I used Stitch and Tear on the wrong side so that the machine didn't eat the stretch knit fabric.  I'm very pleased with the end result - and after wearing it for the first time yesterday, 2 people asked me where I'd bought it - how puffed up with pride was I?Dscf0108 Dscf0104 Dscf0101

That's fantastic, I would never have thought of ties being that beautiful...gorgeous. x

That is really lovely and creative! I've been obsessed with reconstructing thrifted clothes lately. It is so much more satisfying than buying something at a store, plus the results are so much nicer.

You are so creative! The applique leaves look fantastic.

Jo that is fantastic, well done for just having a go the result is surely worth it! Lap up those compliments!
